Owners of mobile gadgets, when trying to connect to Wi-Fi-based wireless networks, sometimes encounter the problem that the device, for some unknown reason, writes: "Authentication error occurred." Also, authentication error messages can sometimes be displayed, the message “Obtaining an IP address” constantly “hangs” on the screen, etc. How to fix such problems will be shown further. Looking ahead, it is worth saying that mobile devices are not always directly related to the appearance of such troubles, and the root cause lies in incorrectly set router parameters. Authentication error occurred: how to understand?
In general, the appearance of such a message indicates that when connecting towireless network, it was impossible to control (match) the access key entered by the user with the one set for the network on the router. But this is far from the main reason.

What should I do if the WiFi authentication failed in the first place?
So, the very first thing that is usually recommended in such situations is to perform a hard reset of all used devices that are somehow connected to the network (routers, phones and tablets). If there is a weak signal, just move closer to the router and check the connection.
Correct password entry and change on the router
Quite often, a message appears that a WiFi authentication error has occurred, Samsung devices or any other may also issue due to the usual inattention of the user who entered the wrong password to access the network.
In this case, it is recommended to check the combination set on the router and change it if necessary. To do this, enter the router interface using any web browser installed on the Windows system and go to the security password or encryption key line. After viewing, enter the correct combination on your mobile device.

Now let's see what we canto do if none of the proposed solutions has a positive effect. In most cases, it all comes down to doing a hard reset.
First, perform these actions on the router, using the appropriate section for this. After the reset, use the information received from the provider and set up the wireless connection again.
Then, in the wireless connection settings on your mobile device, delete the connection in use with the confirmation of the "Forget this network" item. Reboot your device and reconnect. If this does not work, perform a factory reset on this device as well. But in most cases, such actions on a mobile device are not required. If this is still a problem, remember that personal data will be destroyed along with the rest of the information, so take care of creating a backup in advance by saving it on a removable memory card or on a computer (for a PC, you can use even the simplest utilities like MyPhoneExplorer).

These are the main causes and remedies for this kind of failure. If a similar situation is observed when trying to access open networks outside the home, there is nothing left but to contact the network administrator. At the very least, you will definitely be given the correct login password. Sometimes, however, it also happens that when visiting the same institution, these network accesses on a mobile gadget are saved automatically. If something doesn't work, it's possible that the same security key waschanged. Delete the existing connection, connect again and enter a new password (or use the change password for an existing connection, as shown in the material above).
It remains to be added that most often the router settings do not need to be changed (only in the most extreme cases), since for the most part the root cause of such a problem is the banal inattention of the owner of the phone or tablet, who is trying to enter incorrect data. But with Samsung technology, the problem can really be observed, since some devices use a different type of encryption by default, which is why there is a mismatch.
