Chinese wisdom says that there is nothing worse than living in an era of unrest and change. Well, apparently, all of us are now very lucky to live in such a time: the collapse of the Soviet Union and the accompanying upheavals, a change in lifestyle, climate change.
Obviously, one can safely forget about a calm measured life, when it is possible to foresee the future with a high degree of probability for several decades ahead. On the one hand, it's really not very good. But if you look at what is happening a little from a different angle … A quick change makes life more interesting, eventful. What seemed like a fantasy yesterday is becoming a reality today.
For example, a couple of decades ago it seemed that the landline telephone was one of the most advanced means of communication. But with the advent of wireless solutions, his position was seriously shaken. When the industry began producing low-cost mobile devices, and GSM operators lowered the cost of tariffs, the landline began to seem archaic. However, several solutions have been proposed that reverseunderstanding of these types of connections. They were stationary GSM phones.
Apparent contradiction
It may seem that there is some kind of mistake here, the expression "GSM landline phone" simply cannot exist. However, with the current level of progress, this is quite realistic. The two technologies have been successfully combined in a single device, which is quite unusual. Since everyone knows what a landline phone is, and rarely anyone has heard of an unusual symbiosis, we decided to highlight this issue.
Radio wave and wire
It's rare that people don't have a mobile phone these days. Even more: for many models, they work simultaneously with several SIM cards of various mobile operators. The convenience of wireless solutions is obvious - you can call from any place where there is coverage of base stations. However, the landline phone is still in use in some cases. For example, in order to save money on the cost of a call. Imagine that you need to call from a wired phone to a mobile number. It is expensive. However, if instead of a conventional device, a hybrid model (the so-called GSM gateway) is installed at home, then all problems will be solved.
The usual call pattern is as follows: a landline phone - a wireline telecommunications company - a cellular operator - a "mobile phone".
If it were possible to remove the second link from the chain, then the billing would be completely different.
This is exactly what GSM gateways do. Inside suchThe landline phone contains a standard cellular module and a SIM card. Depending on the dialed number, one or another method of calling is selected.
If it is necessary to call a landline number from a mobile phone, then the owner of such a system dials the subscriber's number in a special way. As a result, a connection is first made with the wireless unit of the gateway located at home, which dials the required city number. Thus, the scheme takes the form: a cellular call initiator - a wireless gateway unit - a wired module - a classic wired call. Since the SIM cards of the gateway and the "mobile phone" of the owner, as a rule, belong to the same network, the cost of the conversation is a penny.
