The time-tested solution from Nvidia in tandem with integrated graphics from Intel is responsible for the graphics in this computer, and 8 GB of RAM closes this circle of hardware. In pursuit of total immersion in games and movies, computer developers are increasingly partnering with well-known brands in the field of digital audio. ASUS products are no exception. The external design of the laptop has also undergone a lot of changes. In an attempt to give the gadget a premium look, ASUS decided to use more metal in the design. Case and communications
The build quality of the computer has increased significantly compared to the ASUS N55, whichoffered in the previous generation. Metal is used as the main material, which favorably affects both the visual component and tactile sensations. The working area is made of a similar material. The case is quite strong, the parts are fitted closely to each other, there are no gaps. Squeaks, crackling and backlash are completely excluded. The hinges of the lid are compact, but they look quite secure, the lid is resistant to changing the position of the computer.
The laptop is equipped with a full set of ports. On the front side there is only a slot for memory cards. On the left, you can find a VGA port, Ethernet, HDMI, and two third-generation USB-A ports. On the right side, there is an audio input and audio output - two third-generation USB-A ports, a DVD drive and a socket for connecting a charger. Wireless interfaces include Wi-Fi operating at frequencies b / g / n, and Bluetooth 4.0, which provides connection with wireless peripherals for ASUS N56V.
Keyboard and touchpad
In previous models, the manufacturer experimented with the keyboard layout, for which it was often criticized by users. This time, ASUS decided to abandon unnecessary changes and returned the classic layout that everyone is used to. The keyboard itself is of high quality, stable, does not flex. The keys are flat, between them there is a sufficient distance necessary for comfortable work without erroneous pressing. The key travel is average, rather sharp, which is quite unusual for the design of the keyboard used in the ASUS N56V. Backlit keyboard makes it easy to use in the darktime of day.
The touchpad is obscenely large compared to those commonly used in Windows laptops with their tiny touchpads. It perfectly recognizes any touch and gesture. Gestures, by the way, can be customized to your preferences.

The laptop is equipped with a 15.6-inch display panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, which is the standard for Full HD video. Such a pixel density will have a positive effect not only on watching movies, but also on image quality in general. Small text will appear clearer, and detailed UI elements won't smudge. High resolution allows you to fit more objects on the screen, which is conducive to comfortable working with multiple applications side by side.
The maximum brightness level of the display reaches 310 cd/m2. Roughly speaking, this figure is higher than that of any average laptop, which means it will besufficient for the vast majority of users. Color reproduction is decent. The matrix copes with a wide color range without any problems, the picture looks bright and saturated. The only thing that spoils the impression is the lack of a polarizing coating. When the monitor is tilted, the image looks like a negative, so you will have to look straight at the laptop.
The built-in speaker system is responsible for the sound. As with most things, it delivers clean, punchy, and rich highs, but can lose out on lows and mids. To fix this, ASUS created a mini subwoofer that should bring up the low frequencies, bass and give the sound some kind of responsiveness. All together it sounds pretty decent. The sound becomes deeper.
Performance and autonomy
As the owner of a multimedia laptop, you always count on high performance and no restrictions. Here ASUS N56V copes with a bang. The heart of the computer was the Intel Core i7-3610QM, the maximum frequency of which is 3300 GHz, which is an excellent result even by modern standards. The system works smoothly, responsively, instantly responding to user actions.
Responsible for graphics performance: an integrated module from Intel and discrete graphics Nvidia GeForce GT650M, which is used when using resource-intensive applications and games with complex 3D graphics. The video card supports DirectX 11 libraries, which means it's perfect for gamers.
Supplement8 GB RAM processor and 500 GB 5400 rpm hard drive. The amount of RAM, coupled with other characteristics, is enough to comfortably work with the Windows 10 system and run modern gaming projects at a comfortable frame rate for the game.
In a test built in Windows 7 (pre-installed OS), the computer showed the following results:

Based on the results, we can say that the only component that reduces the performance of the device is the hard drive, which should be replaced with a more modern SSD. This upgrade will double the speed of the laptop.
One more question remains: how much energy do such powerful components consume? The answer is a lot. Under load, the laptop can live no more than 2 hours, and at rest up to 6 hours. When working in a sparing mode (web surfing, working with text), you can expect a little more than 3 hours.
Results
The first impression of the notebook is pleasant and promising. High-quality assembly, almost impervious to prints and minor damage to the case. The keyboard is quite stable and comfortable. Many interfaces and powerful components speak in favor of the monitored device. The catch lies in its cost, ASUS N56V will cost its future owner at least $1250, and this is a serious reason to think. Is it worth itcomputer that kind of money? Yes, it's worth it. The only question is how much you are willing to spend.
