Today there is hardly a person in the world who does not know about Playboy magazine. And its permanent emblem has become something more than just the logo of the publication. This is already a symbol of the sexual revolution and intelligent sexuality. But what does the Playboy badge mean? What did the creators of the magazine put into its meaning?

Let's go from the origins

In 1953, the world first saw the famous "Playboy". Its creator, Hugh Hefner, wanted to make an elegant magazine that could speak frankly on various topics. In those days, the concept of eroticism was still too chaste. Therefore, then, and today too, the topics of publications were stories about people from high society, about beautiful things and the same beautiful life. Erotic photos of girls have always been an irreplaceable component, which aroused admiration among well-mannered and intelligent men.

Contrary to popular belief, the magazine does not promote sex and slutty life. Photos of girls are always works of erotic art that never crossline and do not descend to the level of explicit pornography.

But the first edition needed its own recognizable symbol. They became the Playboy badge, which for so many years has never changed its design.

About the rabbit

As you know, this animal is associated in people with active and violent sexuality. That's why freelance designer Paul Art turned his attention to him when he was asked to create this emblem.

But he didn't just draw the profile of a rabbit. He dressed him up in an exquisite bow tie. This also has a hidden meaning. He hints that although the rabbit has an active sexuality, he always remains a well-mannered man from a secular society. In addition, in those days, two well-known magazines on the emblems, one way or another, had bow ties. And adding her to the Playboy badge, as it were, hinted at what audience the new edition was designed for.

Paul Art himself once admitted that he had no idea how popular his symbol would become in the future. If he had known about it, he would have spent more time creating it. After all, he drew the version known to us in just half an hour.

Playing with a reader

The publishers decided not just to insert a rabbit with a butterfly into the magazine, but to hide it on the pages of the publication. Readers had to find it. So the editorial board built a simple interactive with their fans.

But there were moments when the editors were flooded with mountains of letters in which there was one request - to tell where the rabbit is hidden. Since then on the pagesmagazine has hints on how to find the famous symbol.

In culture

Today, the Playboy icon has gone far beyond the famous magazine. It can be found on clothes, jewelry, accessories and other household items.

Also, this symbol gave rise to one of the most famous erotic images - a girl in a closed swimsuit "under the dress coat" with a bow tie and ears. Such a costume can be seen in many modern films that are far from pornography, but want to bring a slight erotic note to the development of the plot.

And yet, if some girl appeared on the cover of this magazine, then we can talk about her popularity. By the way, the first in this role was Marilyn Monroe, although she never posed specifically for Playboy.
