“How to call Crimea?” is one of the most pressing issues today. The fact is that this spring the peninsula became part of the Russian Federation. Accordingly, the changes affected many issues, including the work of cellular operators. This situation should be considered in more detail, and also compared with how it was previously possible to make calls to Crimea from Russia and other countries.
As it used to be
Earlier, Ukrainian mobile operators operated on the territory of the peninsula. These include Life, Kyivstar and the Ukrainian subsidiary of MTS, as well as many others. For several months after the accession, they operated in all settlements of the Crimea. As a matter of fact, they are working at the moment. The only thing is that roaming was introduced. But representatives of Russian cellular companies acted promptly, as a result, by the beginning of summer, towers appeared in Crimea, and SIM cards of Russian operators were on sale. To date, by the way, several million Russian SIM cards have been purchased.
How the calls were made
Calls to Crimea from Ukraine and vice versa are still being made. So, three basic characters come first: +38. This is followed by the operator code. They should be listed. 050, 099, 066 and 095 are MTS, which is the most popular and, accordingly, in demand. Then - if we talk about the rating - comes Kyivstar - 097, 096 and 067. And four less popular operators are Beeline (068), Peoplenet (092), Life (063) and Intertelecom (094). You need to dial the number only with a plus sign at the beginning. This innovation appeared several years ago, earlier, in order to call Crimea from Russia or another country, it was necessary to enter only the number “8” before the number and operator code. Previously, and still today, in order to make calls to the Crimea on a landline or, as it is called, a landline phone, one also had to dial a code. Only he was urban. Nothing complicated either. For example, if you need to call Alushta, then you need to dial the number "8", after which - 1038 and the area code. In this case, it is 06560. In the case of other cities, the actions are repeated. For the capital of Crimea, that is, for Simferopol, this code is 0652. For the rest, it is also not too different. Alupka has this figure - 0654, exactly the same for Y alta. The cities are nearby, therefore the code is the same. Evpatoria has 06569, Sudak has 06566. You can see that the first three digits are the same in all cases, so if you need to remember, you should keep the next one or two digits in your memory.
Changes in city communications
The Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications, as it became known, has developed and sent to the public a draft order, according to which residents of Crimea and the hero city of Sevastopol will soon receive Russian fixed-line telephone codes. Accordingly, the question of how to call Crimea began to be resolved almost immediately after it arose. This document implies the introduction of certain changes to the numbering plan of the Russian Federation. Thus, the long-distance code (numbers - 365) is allocated in order to use it in wired telephone communication networks on the territory of the peninsula. The code with the numbers 869 will be used in Sevastopol. Dmitry Alkhazov, who is the Deputy Minister of Mass Communications and Communications, said that subscribers will have numbers that will be distinguished from the old ones by only one digit in the city code - if you do not take the country code into account. For example, in Sevastopol there will be a code not “692”, but “869”. In addition, instead of six digits, there will be seven.
Changes in cellular communications
If we talk about how to call Crimea on a mobile, then the situation is somewhat different. Experts say that there is no need to allocate any additional mobile codes here, since they have sufficient numbering capacity. But absolutely all companies that previously worked in Ukraine, but now ended up in Russia, will need to re-register licenses, which will take some time.

It is worth noting, speaking about how to call Crimea, that until January 1 of the nextyear on the peninsula operates the so-called transitional period. And this means that operators can still work under Ukrainian licenses that currently exist. So far, only the operator Rostelecom has started its work in Crimea - directly through a subsidiary called Miranda Media. The specialist also made a reservation that a territorial department of Roskomnadzor is being formed in Crimea. In the capital of Russia, the necessary documents are now being drawn up, which are necessary in order to legalize a legal entity or create it. In general, in the cities of Crimea, as well as in Sevastopol, it is already possible to purchase a SIM card, the only problem that may arise in this case is long queues.
