Monitor Acer AL1916W - this is not a new model of the company. This monitor first appeared on sale back in 2006 and almost instantly gained national fame. The whole reason for the popularity was that for a very reasonable and affordable price, users were offered a widescreen version with excellent performance and a resolution higher than the standard 1280 x 1024. Today, this monitor can no longer be found for sale in stores, but there are plenty of them in the secondary market, where they are not that expensive. However, now about everything in order.
Package set
Initially, the Acer AL1916W monitor was supplied in an ordinary cardboard box, which did not attract much attention. Now this model in the original box is extremely difficult to find and, rather, even impossible.
As for the equipment, it is not very rich. In addition to the monitor itself, includedalong with it was a collapsible leg (aka stand), a standard VGA cable for connecting to a computer, and a power cord. There was also a warranty card and a user manual. In fairness, it should be noted that the equipment of modern monitors is practically no different.
Appearance
The design of the Acer AL1916W monitor is quite standard, and by today's standards it is completely "boring". In total, 2 types of colors were provided - a completely black version and with a silver front frame. It was the first option that looked more interesting than its silver "brother". The materials from which the case is assembled are high-quality plastic with a slightly matte, if I may say so, coating. And this is very cool, because there are practically no fingerprints left here.
The screen also has a matte finish. Prints are not visible, but spots, splashes and other impurities are visible very well during operation, and this interferes. Simply wiping with a slightly damp cloth or cloth does not always help, and sometimes it takes some time to clean everything.
As for the stand, it's quite good. In the assembled state, there are no backlashes, all parts fit very tightly to each other. The stand also has an engraved company logo, which has a slightly glossy finish.
The monitor has only 2 output connectors, which are located behind the protective cap (can be removed if necessary). On the left is a connector for connecting a VGA cable, and on the right is a socket for a power cord. By the way, the network cable is not held in place very securely, so, for example, when wiping dust, the cable can be slightly hooked, as a result of which the contact will be broken and the monitor will not work.
Actually, there is also a power supply built into the case with ventilation holes at the back. On some Acer AL1916W models, this block had 4 holes for mounting the monitor on the wall. There is also a sticker with the year of manufacture, model name and other information.
The front side is completely occupied by screen space. The model of the monitor is applied on the top right of the frame, and a protruding logo is glued in the bottom center. A little lower is a separate block with controls. Only 5 buttons: Auto, left, right, Menu and power button with backlight. Pressings are felt very well, the course is small, but clear.
Monitor specifications
Now it's time to get acquainted with the characteristics of Acer AL1916W. The type of installed matrix is TN, the diagonal is 19 inches, and the aspect ratio is 16:10. Such parameters at the time of release were rare and represented a kind of golden mean between monitors with a resolution of 1280 x 1024 and models of 1600 x 1200. The resolution of the Acer AL1916W is 1440 x 900, which is not so bad, but at the same time is a kind of non-standard. Repeatedly, many users of Windows 7 and older have encounteredthe fact that the required permission was not in the system settings, and had to be configured manually.
The response time is only 5ms and the maximum refresh rate is 70Hz. As for color reproduction, it is very good here. The brightness margin is also pleasing, its indicator is 300 cd / sq. m. There are no problems with contrast either. Viewing angles are decent - 160 degrees both vertically and horizontally.
User reviews
Reviews on the Acer AL1916W show that this monitor has practically no drawbacks, with the exception of one - the power supply very often fails, the factory capacitor fails, due to which the monitor starts to work incorrectly, namely, it turns on and immediately or it goes out. You can easily fix this problem, you just need to replace the damaged "conder" with a new one, only from a trusted manufacturer. Otherwise, there are no complaints.
Cost
At the moment, you can buy Acer AL1916W in the secondary market or flea markets for 1500-3000 rubles. It's very cheap and the monitor is definitely worth the money. The most important thing is that it be in a fully working condition, the rest (the condition of the body) is not so important. This model, if it was followed and treated with care, will be able to work for more than one year without any problems, delighting its owner every day.
