A power amplifier is a special electronic device designed to convert a small electrical signal that comes from a source into a more powerful signal. After all, to control electro-acoustic transducer devices, for example, headphones or loudspeakers, you need a powerful source signal without distortion, and the source often cannot provide the desired signal power or distorts it with undesirable influences.

A power amplifier can be either an independent separate device with its own panel and control system, or it can be an internal element of some device and be soldered into a hybrid circuit. This device is the very last link in any sound reinforcement chain.

A power amplifier can be distinguished by its application area. Usually there are two main areas of use: domestic and professional. You can also divide them according to the execution schemes into single-ended and push-pull power amplifiers. Single-cycle work in the so-called linear amplification mode. In this mode, current flows through the transistor for a full cycle.

The power amplifier is in absolutely any device or device that reproduces sound signals of the widest frequency spectrum. Since the primary signal that is being read initially usually has a rather insignificant power, amplifiers must be used to transmit it to other devices. Such devices can be found in any mobile phone, tape recorder, computers and laptops, and even in children's toys that can talk (which have speakers). In such household appliances, household amplifiers are also used. The purpose of such devices is to amplify the electrical signal to the values of the sound range that the average human ear can perceive (usually from 15 to 22 kilohertz). It should be noted that with age, the range decreases significantly (its upper limit mainly falls), hearing becomes less sensitive - and most aged people are not able to perceive sounds at a frequency of more than 16-17 kilohertz.

Professional amplifiers are widely used in the industry, for example, such a device as a broadcast power amplifier. It is used for sound notification in administrative buildings, large industrial enterprises and open areas, stadiums and entertainment centers. Their purpose is to amplify and transmit an audio signal for broadcasting (signal broadcasting) at various large facilities.

The appearance of suchdevice, as a power amplifier, can be the most diverse and vary greatly depending on its application and purpose. There may also be specific design differences. For example, a sound power amplifier has a special playback system, water and moisture protection, and a permanent ventilation system. All this in total provides a much longer term of operation of sound amplifying equipment under conditions of maximum loads.
