Today we will talk about Philips W832 phone. We will describe the characteristics of the device in this material as detailed as possible. Not so long ago, Xenium mobile phones belonged to the category of “long-lived” gadgets and were in great demand by the consumer. The emergence of more modern, improved mobile communications created by Apple pushed Philips products to the second (rather third) plan, but this continued only until the company introduced its new development, the Xenium W732, to the general public. This smartphone has already been put on the Android platform, but, unfortunately, it could not be attributed to the class of equally “long-playing” devices to which its famous ancestor belonged. Later, the company offered consumers another modified variation on the Xenium theme - the W832 smartphone, which supports 2 SIM cards.

Let's start our review with a visual inspection. The Philips W832 smartphone is quite weighty, despite the fact that it is only 20-25 grams heavier than most other Android devices and has standard parameters. The metal bezel of the screen with partial coverage of the sides gives the device reliability, protecting the increased battery (2400 mAh). The advantage of an already good assembly is a plastic cover that fits securely to the body part and is easily removed by pressing on a special mini-hollow. Under the closing part there are two slots for SIM cards, and you can use both a standard and a reduced card model. On the sides of the smartphone are: power button, volume control, power mode switch. Touch elements are located in the area of the screen, and also crown the brand name, beautifully gleaming on the metal border.

The Philips W832's 4.5” display is based on IPS technology with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, a contrast ratio of 570:1 and good viewing angles. True, it recognizes only 3 touches made at the same time, and despite the fact that more is not needed, this fact is considered as a minus of the device.

The platform of the Philips W832 is the usual, unremarkable Android version 4.0.4. The device still has a feature, and it consists in the presence of an energy saving system and two SIM cards. The priority is one of them, but you can set up a mode in which before each call and SMS that the owner wants to make, he will be asked which of the SIM cards to choose.

Whattouches the radio module, then it is alone. During a conversation, an inactive card will be blocked and transferred out of range, by the way, 3G is also configured to a specific number. The basis of the device is a processor with two cores MediaTek (it operates at a frequency of 1 GHz) and 512 MB of RAM.

Other features

The sound signal in the Philips W832 is adequate, clear and a bit harsh, but this does not interfere with listening to even classical music and rock on the phone, and in good quality, which means that it can replace a small mid-priced player. Unfortunately, in terms of “longevity”, the Xenium W832 is not even close to the first phones of this model range, which held a charge for up to 10-12 days. But everything is known in comparison, therefore, if we compare it with other gadgets on the Android platform, it needs recharging less often. So, it can withstand up to 48 hours of active work with a load that takes into account the daily use of the camera; periodic connection to the Wi-Fi system for checking e-mail and short-term surfing the Internet; listening to recorded music and radio; sending multiple SMS messages. In battery saving mode, which is configured either using the switch on the side panel or by selecting the desired category in the menu, access to the Internet is blocked, and the screen turns off periodically, but Xenium W832 can work up to 5 days.

The 8-megapixel camera is very easy to use and allows you to take standard photos of low quality. Another drawback is poor stabilization, so sharpnessyou will need to expose for the first 3-5 seconds.

So, what can we say about the Xenium W732 smartphone in general? Battery life isn't too impressive. But it is still more than other smartphones. The advantage in this situation is the presence of an energy-saving mode, including which you can extend the operating time of the device. The Philips W832 phone is productive. It has a good screen, which, although far from the leading flagships of the market, is trifles, given the cost of the gadget. The undoubted advantage is the presence of two SIM cards, excellent sound for a middle-class gadget and excellent build quality.
