Outlook is included in the Microsoft Office package. It provides the user with ample opportunities for scheduling, storing telephone numbers and postal addresses. But, unfortunately, this program does not have built-in settings for popular email clients. You will have to tinker a little to get Yandex mail in Outlook settings.
Start setup
When you first start the program, the user is prompted to immediately begin the setup and connection procedure. If you have all the information you need to add an email client at hand, you can start filling in the special fields. If it is not there, then in the menu you can refuse the setting and make it later. Please note that you can add mail to Yandex only if you have an already registered mail account.
First you need to specify the server type. In Outlook settings, Yandex can be connected using POP3 or IMAP. In the first case, the mail is downloaded to the computer, in the second case, it remains on the server.
When using POP3, all mail actions performed on the computer will not be reflected on the server. That is, if you delete letters in the programOutlook, they will remain on the server. This should be taken into account when initially setting up the program. Using POP3 is safer, but keep in mind that this can lead to mailbox clutter. After all, to delete read letters, you have to go from the browser window. And this is not always convenient.
What data to enter?
What data to enter in the required fields for this depends on the provider of postal services. But since for the sake of convenience and security, all mail services (Yandex, Google, Mail.ru) use the same mail access ports. They differ only in domains. So, in Yandex-mail of the Outlook settings domain, the following data should be indicated in the fields:
- The name that was used when registering the mail account.
- Email address. For example, [email protected].
- Login. The program enters it automatically, using numbers and letters up to the @ symbol, if the login is different, then delete the previous one and enter the one that is used.
- Password (Enter your email account password).
- In the IMAP field enter: imap.yandex.ru.
- In the POP3 field enter: pop3.yandex.ru.
- In the SMTP field enter: smtp.yandex.ru.
But in order to not give an error message, you need to check the server port numbers. To do this, click on the "More settings" button. A separate window will open with five tabs.
Other settings
Success of launching the mail clientdepends on what data the user specifies in this window. Here you can select the connection type, additional connection and security settings. But in order to set up Yandex mail, first you need to set up the server port numbers using the connection that already exists. To do this, click on the "Advanced" tab.
The figure shows that the arbitrarily specified server port numbers do not meet modern security standards. These numbers are not suitable for connection. To do this, in the Yandex Outlook settings, you must enter the following port numbers:
- IMAP-993;
- POP3 – 995;
- SMTP – 465.
If the Internet connection is unstable, the signal is weak, then you should increase the waiting time for a response from the server. Increasing the reception time to 1-2 minutes is enough even with a connection at a speed of 32 kbps to receive Yandex mail.
Check
Checking Yandex settings in Outlook happens automatically. Immediately after adding an account, the program sends a request to download mail or connect to the mail service. And after the program starts successfully, it will be possible to configure connection security. Then install additional verification of the login and password on the server, checking it with an antivirus (if it is installed on the PC) and a firewall.
If any errors were made during the setup, they will be shown in a separate window. Mail will not load. Considering that given in thiswindow, the information is written in the language of "techies", it will not be so easy for a simple user to understand the reasons that led to the appearance of errors.
Possible errors and debugging
The most common mistake is entering the wrong password or login. Sometimes users, without knowing what the port number should be, try to connect on the wrong one. To make corrections, if the settings window was closed at the previous stage, you should click on the "Tools - Email Accounts" tab. In the window that opens, put a dot in front of "View or change existing accounts."
Compare your username, email address, SMTP, IMAP(POP3) and re-enter your password. After that, check the port numbers. Correct if they are incorrect.
Sometimes users enter the data of a mail account that does not exist in Yandex into the program, because they do not know that Outlook does not register new mailboxes. This program was created for convenient work with existing mail. Therefore, you must first create a mailbox in Yandex, and then add it to Outlook.
