Now, most owners of devices running Android OS have begun to increasingly face the problem of lack of memory. And it does not arise because of highly resource-intensive applications. Even if there is a lot of free space on the media, programs may not be installed. What is the reason? To solve this problem, in order not to get root access and reset the gadget to factory settings, you need to tinker a little. But first, let's deal with the memory itself.
Memory types
From the very beginning, it should be said that the Android OS device is the same computer, only in a reduced form. For this reason, his memory is also different.
Each kind of memory has its purpose. Mobile devices use:
- RAM;
- built-in memory;
- USB stick;
- removable media (flash drive);
- application memory.
Let's take a closer look at them.
RAM
RAM plays the same role in mobile devices as in computers - it stores all open applications. The inscription "Not enough memory spacedevice "may appear precisely because of the filling of the RAM. To solve this problem, just restart your gadget or close all active windows through the Task Manager. As a rule, problems with RAM appear very rarely, but if they occur, then everything is solved simply.
Built-in memory
This is the volume that is written in the characteristics of the device. Additionally, the built-in memory can be partitioned. Approximately 1.5 GB goes under the system. For various reasons, this section is invisible to users, access to it is closed.
USB stick
This type of memory allows you to store photos, videos, various programs, etc. It also contains special images that the system creates for faster loading when viewing images and listening to music. It's rare for a drive to fill up, but if it does, simply deleting the largest files solves the problem.
Flash drive
Everything is clear with removable media. It stores everything that did not fit into the USB drive. If there is not enough space in the device's memory due to the flash drive being full, then perform the same operations as with the internal memory.
App storage
This type of memory is the most interesting and important. The reason for this is the strict limitation and rapid filling. If, when installing applications, a message appears that there is not enough space in the device’s memory, then in 95% of cases the solution is in this type of memory. Let's figure out whythis section is so important.
Even in the most modern smartphone or tablet, the memory allocated for installing applications does not exceed 2 GB. Additionally, all updates, logs and system messages are stored here. For this reason, this section fills up very quickly. Further, when installing applications, even if there is enough memory on the internal device, a message about the lack of space appears. Consider a solution to this problem.
Options to solve the problem of insufficient application memory
The first solution, if there is not enough space in the device's memory to install applications, is to transfer all programs to the SD card (device's internal memory). This solution will free up some application memory, but not for long.
As already mentioned, logs, dumps, etc. are stored in the application memory. Having carefully studied the partition using the Disk Usage utility, you can notice a rather "heavy" system application called System Data. In some cases, its size may exceed 1.5 GB. With a limit of 2 GB, this is a lot. So, if there is not enough space in the memory of your phone or tablet to install applications, it is recommended to delete this "garbage storage" using the combination 9900. Enter it. And a menu will appear where you need to select "Delete dumpstate / logcat". Everything, application memory is freed. This procedure must be carried out regularly when there is a lack of memory.
Another solution is to install the App2SD utility. It can be used to carry outinstallation of programs on a USB flash drive, and only a small log will be created in the application memory itself.
