For the past 10 years, any mention of the iPhone stirs up the Internet and creates an incredible resonance. The product of the Californian company Apple has become a truly iconic one, and the release of each new model turns into one of the main events of the year. Traditionally, six months before the presentation of a new iPhone, user activity increases, leaks appear, details of a new smartphone, “soapy” photos of allegedly finished gadgets and information from “trusted” sources. To date, a little more than a month remains before the presentation, and users already know for sure what the new brainchild from Cupertino will be like. In this article, we collect all the rumors and any more or less significant information about what the iPhone 8 will look like. Photos from factories, mockups and 3D models of the best (in absentia) smartphone of 2017.

Display without borders (almost)

The idea of frameless screens is not new at all. Everyone who is at least a little interested in technology knows that the use of such screens is practiced by Samsung. The same fashion was picked up by all other manufacturers. Apple will be no exception. The design of the front panel of the iPhone has not changed since the release of the very first model, and now, apparently, the moment has comewhen it's time to change everything, and radically. The design will disappear, only the display will remain. Okay, it's really not all that rosy. A small tubercle will remain in the upper part of the display, where cameras and a light sensor will be inserted, it looks very unaesthetic. There are also rumors that Californians have decided to abandon the IPS-matrix and, having fallen into the enemy camp, will begin to install AMOLED-matrices in their phones (Apple needs a rich black color). Focusing on the latest iPad models, one can hope that the eighth iPhone will have a screen with a refresh rate of 120 hertz and TrueTone technology (this is when the camera evaluates the lighting in the room and changes the color scheme of the display to match it). The most dreamy ones hope that the Apple Pencil can finally be used not only with an “apple” tablet, but also with a smartphone.

Old case or new?

Not everything is going smoothly with the case either. Those factory shots and enthusiast 3D renders that we see now are not at all impressive. The phone has become thicker, which will 100% negatively affect ergonomics. Why could the Cupertino engineers take such a step, sacrifice convenience? Either we will finally wait for a massive battery, or Apple decided to install inductive aka wireless charging into the phone. Why it is needed in the iPhone is not clear, but there is an opinion that Foxconn factories are already assembling special platforms for charging (they will be sold separately from the smartphone).

New colors and materials

Knowing howApple doesn't like visual changes, it's safe to say that we're looking at not only what the iPhone 8 is, but what the iPhone 8 S looks like. The solid aluminum plate is likely to disappear and be replaced by glass with stainless steel inserts. Expensive and solid, but somehow sloppy and not at all in the style of Apple. There are also rumors about an expanded color palette. This, too, may well be, given the recent release of the red iPhone 7. It turns out that Apple is ready for such experiments and has learned how to paint aluminum. So, they will learn to paint glass as well.

Inverted camera - why?

They decided to turn the camera over, no one questions this anymore. But not only its orientation has changed, but also the design. Now the camera and flash are two separate elements, the flash is located slightly to the right (when viewed from the back) from the camera. This is what the camera looks like on the iPhone 7 Plus. And what does it look like in the new iPhone 8? Here the camera is a single structure, where the flash is located between two lenses. If the base iPhone 8 has a dual camera (and it will), you ask, what will the iPhone 8 Plus look like? Firstly, no one prevents Apple from introducing other distinctive features into the large version, and secondly, there may not be any Plus. So why is the camera upside down? Most analysts blame the fact that the "iPhone 8" will often be used with an augmented reality helmet, and suchthe location of the camera will favorably affect the work with it. Skeptics, on the other hand, believe that this situation is connected with an attempt to make an unusual design (the design of the seventh iPhone has already been copied), and the most daring ones said that it’s all about those who like to shoot vertical videos, they say, it’s time to discourage them from this habit.

Where will Touch ID be?

Another mystery that haunts fans (and anti-fans) is the location of the fingerprint sensor and its presence in the phone in general. A total of 4 options are being considered. Let's start with the most boring - on the back of the smartphone. The network has already lit up prototypes of an iPhone with a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel a la "Android". This option outraged everyone without exception, but, fortunately, it is also the most unlikely. The second option is in the power button, like on Sony phones. This seems more likely, since it's quite convenient, and Apple and Sony have always had a good relationship (there will be no problems with patents).

The third option (the most desirable one) is a scanner under the display. Many still hope that Apple will still be able to introduce new technology, and the role of Touch ID will take over the entire display. This theory is indirectly confirmed by the unusual behavior of the iOS 11 operating system. When you click on a notification, the system does not respond with a request to unlock the smartphone, but only reports that it is locked. The fourth option (the most plausible) is a 3D face scanner instead of a scannerfingerprint. Apple has been working on advanced dual-camera face scanning technology for more than three years. If they managed to achieve the maximum reading speed without pauses and errors, then it is quite possible that this option will be a worthy replacement for the existing technology. Simple and tasteful, all in the manner of an "apple" corporation.

What about the characteristics?

What will the "iPhone 8" look like, figured out, but what will be "under the hood"? Only one thing can be said for sure - the fastest in-house production process in the world will again be installed inside. A11 Fusion will once again blow up the benchmarks and take the iPhone to the lead, as it has done for the last 3 years. The amount of RAM can increase up to 4 gigabytes (as in tablets, but no more). The main memory is already enough, you should not expect much generosity here. Of the interesting, it is worth highlighting the new battery, which will change in shape and will look not like a rectangle, but like a Tetris figure in order to take up as much space as possible in the smartphone case. Perhaps it will become larger, as the body of the phone is slightly thicker. At the moment, this is all that is known about the inner world of the new iPhone.

Whether to believe the leaks?

So, at the moment this is all that is known about the new gadget from Apple. We know what the "iPhone 8" will look like, an approximate set of technologies and characteristics, we even know about accessories. Should I trust the photos and the information received? More likely yes than no, because leaks fromFoxconn factories are far from a myth, but a bitter reality. iPhone parts are carried out in their underwear and flushed down the toilet in order to get the prototype from the sewer. These are real samples and drawings obtained by "sweat and blood". However, the final decision is up to you, the fans can only wait, since there is very little left.
