By itself, xenon emits light with a warmer spectrum of illumination, which will improve visibility at night, as well as during bad weather.
However, like any other technique, they have their drawbacks.
- The first drawback is the cost. The price of HB4 xenon lamps fluctuates independing on the manufacturer, but it is still higher than that of halogen. The price starts from about 250 rubles per lamp and can go up to 3000-4000 thousand rubles for a set of xenon devices.
- If the halogen light source fails, only it can be replaced. This will not work with xenon due to the fact that during operation during heating, the color of the lighting changes. If you replace only one of them, then the difference may be too noticeable. Therefore, both sources have to be changed.
- Installation of xenon lamps requires additional installation of a gas ignition unit, unlike halogens.
- During power up, you may notice that the response is not immediate. When first turning on the high beam, low beam or fog lamps, if they also have gas discharge lamps, you need to take into account the time required to ignite the gas.
