For several decades, a device such as an intercom has protected many apartment residents. This is a very convenient device, as it reduces the access of unwanted persons to homes. This reduces the number of burglaries and damage in the interior of the house (stairwells, basements, and so on). Codes for intercoms allow you to program calls to internal apartment numbers. Intercom device
This device is usually a system that includes several nodes:
- Call panel. This device is anti-vandal and is mounted in front of the entrance. The panel is equipped with a numeric keypad (where you can dial codes for intercoms), a backlight, a smart card or key reader, and a hidden camera.
- Subscriber device. It serves to ensure negotiations between the owner of the apartment and the guest. When equipped with an outdoor camera, this device is equipped with a screen on which the visitor's identity can be seen.
- Commutator. This device is installed only in apartment buildings. It serves to connect during negotiations, sends a signal to the apartment, and so on.
- Constipation device. This node allows you to control the lock on the front door using an intercom. This sends a signal to the electric lock from the indoor unit.
Types of intercoms
There are several types of this device:
- Multi- and low-subscriber intercoms. The first option is devices that provide protection for multi-storey residential buildings, the second type is used, as a rule, in private suburban buildings.
- Digital devices. The peculiarity of these devices is that for each subscriber there is a specific dial-up number. Also, the installation is simple and resistant to hacking. At the same time, codes for intercoms are dialed for dialing.
- Analog (coordinate matrix) intercoms. This type of device is the most common, although it has several disadvantages. So, when installing a system of this type, more costs are required; also, if the device of one subscriber fails, other apartment owners may also experience failures.
- Audio and video intercoms.

- Previously released models may skip universal codes for intercoms. Since this has been abused, this feature is also being disabled by the installers. In later releases, this "free" pass option does not exist.
