Modern smartphones have become a kind of multimedia combines, combining the functionality of a phone, camera, video and music player in one compact device. Together with them, complementing and expanding their functionality, headphones have also evolved. Now no one is puzzled by a person walking down the street in a headset or talking “to himself” using the microphone built into it. Apple made a big contribution to this by launching the iPod and iPhone. The headphones of this company are recognizable from afar and have their own history.
From EarPhones to EarPods
The first model, released together with the legendary iPod, was released in 2001. I must say that the "apple" headphones quickly won the hearts of users. Even they showed Jobs' ability to surprise the world with seemingly familiar things, looking at them from a different angle.
EarPhones, of course, differed from competitors, but, what is most interesting, their calling card was not the unique sound quality, but the color. No one had ever wanted to produce white headphones before. Apple tried and failed.
EarPhones received a new impetus to development and recognition in 2007 with the release of the iPhone. Headphones acquired a small remote that allowed you to controlplaying music tracks and answering calls without taking your phone out of your pocket. Just a year later, Apple released a separate headset called In-Ear. They were never bundled with the company's products and were sold separately as a fashion product. Their main highlight was the use of balanced armature technology, which is characterized by high sound quality.
In 2012, the fifth iPhone model was released. The headphones that came with it have undergone a drastic redesign and have received a new name - EarPods. From their predecessors, as well as from the products of competitors, they were distinguished by a drop-shaped design. With him, four releases of the iPhone successfully lived - these headphones turned out to be so successful. iPhone 5S, 6 and 6S came with them without any external changes.
Wireless
Apple made another historic change with the release of the seventh version of its smartphone. EarPods, along with the “seven”, have lost their usual audio jack. Instead, it now uses the same Lightning port used for charging.
Just a few months later, Apple completely stripped its headphones of wires. They retain their now-famous teardrop shape, but now use advanced Bluetooth technology to transmit sound.
How to spot a fake
In stores you can find different colors in which iPhone headphones are made. Is it original or not? As we said above, Apple has released its white headset. From the very first modelThe company did not use other colors. Consequently, all the colorful variety that is strewn with the counters is nothing more than the careful handicrafts of our eastern neighbor.
The earphones usually bundled with the iPhone outlive the smartphone. But if you happen to break or lose them, know that not all white EarPods on sale are original. Many articles and instructions have been written on how to distinguish Apple products, and it is not difficult to find them.
In conclusion
This is how, briefly, almost twenty-year history of the development of Apple headphones looks like. One of the popular products inspired by the legendary Steve Jobs.
