The accuracy of such devices depends on several factors: design, implemented technologies, weather conditions, and even terrain objects. Moreover, the transmitted and received signal may be distorted by the user's body. But usually the error in determining the location is insignificant - no more than 3-5 meters.

- Geodetic receivers. They include a special antenna and a controller that introduces errors into measurements, which achieves the most accurate result.
- GIS class devices. They are an industrial version of a pocket personal computer, in which a transmitter, specially software and a receiver are built. This significantly reduces the error in determining the coordinates.
Now, due to the development of technology, it is impossible to draw a clear line between the two types of devices - both equipment can replace each other under different circumstances.
Personal technique
An ordinary person resorts to this kind of devices in two cases: to determine their location and not get lost, to follow any object or subject for protection. Depending on the task at hand, a personal satellite receiver can be portable. In this case, it is a small compact device. In addition, the receiver can be built into some other equipment, such as a laptop or phone.
