Radio relay communication systems (RRS) today are the most important type of transport information networks: the life of the vast majority of the world's population depends on them to one degree or another.

This technology involves the transmission of information through a network of relay radio stations. Terrestrial lines transport a radio signal in the decimeter and centimeter ranges, at frequencies from several hundred MHz to several tens of GHz.

Radio relay communication systems have the following advantages:

- the ability to transmit both narrowband and broadband signals;

- multi-channel and duplex (two-way, providing both reception and transmission) communication between subscribers;

- almost complete immunity to atmospheric interference and industrial "background";

- much less networking time compared to wired connection;

- narrow directivity of antenna devices, which limitsincrease in the general electromagnetic background of the area.

At the same time, the use of PPC is not without drawbacks caused by the need to provide:

- high location of antennas and direct geometric "visibility" between adjacent transceivers;

- increasing the number of intermediate stations in proportion to the increasing signal transmission distance.

In addition, these systems have rather bulky equipment for communication, and the construction of networks in hard-to-reach areas is fraught with difficulties in its delivery and installation.

All of the above plays an important role in the fact that radio relay communication lines, wherever possible, are being replaced by fiber-optic (FOCL). Contribute to their displacement and the constant growth of traffic, loads on transport networks. In megacities, FOCL will certainly gradually take a dominant position, but the scale of Russia and the development of transport lines predetermine the confidence that radio relay communication systems will be used quite widely in the coming decades. In the vastness of our country, there are a huge number of places where the construction and deployment of FOCL will simply never pay off.

And even when using fiber as the main networks, the need for backup does not disappear anywhere, since cable lines are prone to breaks and, as a result, quite long downtime. And as backup radio relay communication systems have no competitors.

Moreover, we can talk not only about their preservation, but also about their further development: a new impetus to this is given by the digital TV entering our lives. In a digital television broadcasting organization, PPC is the ideal solution, offering the most acceptable connection quality, cost and deployment speed to date. This is most pronounced when broadcasting in single frequency mode. And in connection with the simplification of the import / registration of equipment and obtaining permits, an increase in interest in PPC is predicted on the part of enterprises and organizations when creating corporate networks.
