Today, the touch screen mobile phone is no longer surprising - it has become commonplace in the modern world. But just fifteen years ago, such technology could only be dreamed of. Do you want to know when the first touch phone appeared and what it was like?
The advent of mobile phones
The idea of creating such a device arose back in 1947, and it was put into practice ten years later by the Soviet radio engineer Leonid Ivanovich Kupriyanovich. This device was called LK-1 and it weighed three kilograms. Just a year later, the weight of the device dropped to half a kilo. And in 1961, a mobile phone could fit in the palm of your hand and weighed 70 grams.
In 1973, Motorola released a prototype cell phone called the Motorola DynaTAC. It weighed just over a kilogram and had twelve keys on the front. In talk mode, the phone could work for about one hour, and in standby mode - up to eight. Recharging lasted more than ten hours.
First touchphone
In 1998, the Japanese company Sharp created the first touchscreen phone, the PMC-1 Smart-phone. In addition to the innovative screen, there was practically nothing special about it. Therefore, the main goal of its creation - competition with the Nokia 9000 communicator - was never achieved.
Alcatel One Touch COM was released in the same year. It is with him, oddly enough, that the history of touch phones begins.
Both of these devices were not widely used, so both themselves and the touch control technology were soon forgotten.
The next touch screen phone was the Ericsson R380. It was the first attempt at a touchscreen smartphone. He had a small monochrome screen with a resolution of 360x120. In addition, its control was severely limited, as it was not possible to install additional programs.
In 2002, NTS released the first full-fledged smartphone with a touch screen - QTek 1010/02 XDA. Its display was already quite impressive at that time - 3.5 inches, plus support for 4096 colors. The smartphone was running Windows Mobile 2002 operating system.
Nokia's first touchscreen phone
In 2003, the famous Finnish brand announced its first touchscreen phone, the Nokia 7700. However, the launch of the model on the market was postponed several times, and in the end, consumers did not wait for it. Instead of Nokia 7700, Nokia 7710 was released immediately.
New page in phone development
In 2007, the mobile industry was turned over by Apple's iPhone. This is the first touch phone that supported two new features at once: finger control and multi-touch, that is, touching in several places at the same time. Also this year, the HTC Touch was released, which was also very popular due to the special TouchFLO technology and the lack of edges on the edges of the screen, which prevented access to some elements.
The future of the mobile industry
It's hard to believe that the history of cell phones goes back over fifty years. During all this time, the mobile industry has gone through many stages of its development. And although the first touch phones appeared relatively recently, progress does not stand still. Soon this technology will be replaced by more modern and convenient, for example, voice or holographic control.
