The phrase "inverter motor" is often heard by those who are going to buy, for example, a washing machine, air conditioner or refrigerator. It is believed that equipment with such a motor is almost the most advanced of all available models today. But not everyone bothers to figure out what an inverter motor is in technical installations. Consider how it works and what are its benefits in the refrigerator.
What is an inverter?
This device is designed to regulate speed. So, in the case of a refrigerator, if it needs more cold, then the inverter motor will increase the necessary speed. And when the command “enough” is received from the equipment, then the revolution counter stops at a given point. Previously, the refrigerator had to install as many as three compressors. But now one is enough. After all, the greatest load occurs when you turn ontechnology. And with multiple compressors, a higher frequency is required. But one inverter turns on smoothly, without sudden jumps and overloads. That is why energy savings are obtained.
Any driver knows that starting his car "cold" reduces the life of the motor. The same thing happens with the compressor. But the inverter motor, starting smoothly, accelerates to thousands of revolutions gradually. Thus, in addition to saving, the equipment does not wear out much longer.
Flaws
In addition to the advantages, technical devices with an inverter, like any other, certainly have disadvantages. Chief among them is the high cost. Not everyone decides to fork out for this innovation, moreover, sometimes not fully trusting its real effectiveness.
Benefits
Continuing the analogy with a car, it is easy to understand that a car that will go on a flat road, without even going to the maximum speed, will reach the finish line faster than one that moves off-road, but at the limit. The first option seems to be advantageous not only in terms of results, but also in terms of fuel (small power “eats” less gasoline), as well as spare parts (in the second case, you may need to replace something at the finish line).
The same situation is with refrigeration equipment. The digital inverter motor has the following advantages:
- significantly saves electrical energy;
- motor resource is significantly increased due to the minimum load, repairs in this case will be needed much less often;
- noise during operation is also significantly reduced due to low speeds;
- Based on technical specifications, the manufacturer usually extends the warranty period for equipment.
There is no limit to perfection
The inverter motor is not the most advanced in household appliances today. Known so-called linear unit, which can also be attributed to the piston. However, there is no engine and crankshaft in it. The piston is located in an electric magnetic coil and starts moving when current is applied. At the same time, much less electrical energy is required, the efficiency is significantly increased, and the refrigeration equipment is even quieter than with an inverter unit.
For this type of technology, an inverter is useful, since maintaining a constant temperature without working at the limit is a really important indicator. In another technique, for example, if an inverter motor is installed in a washing machine, this may not be as significant as for a refrigerator.
