Internet surfing in recent years has become available to anyone. And the truth is that you can get information on any issue without leaving your home. But, unfortunately, it happens that you launch the browser, but the site does not open. Why? This question is asked by almost all users, at least once faced with such a problem. Let's look at the causes of this phenomenon and methods for correcting the situation. Depending on the very reason for the appearance of such failures and solutions, quite a lot of different options can be offered.
Why can't websites open in my working browser?
You may have noticed that sometimes when you enter the address of the requested resource, instead of opening the desired page, various kinds of messages are displayed that the site or service is unavailable, timed out, the site does not exist, etc.
In general, there are a lot of variations of such notifications, and their appearance is not always associated with incorrect settings of the loc alterminal or some incorrect actions of the user himself. It is quite possible that this is due to some, so to speak, global reasons, which are further proposed to be considered in full.
Internet is working, websites are not opening: primary reasons
When considering the main question, we will proceed from the fact that the user with an Internet connection is really all right. But why then does not a single site open?
Among all the things that could cause such a phenomenon, there are several main ones, namely:
- provider problems;
- problems on the server being accessed;
- blocking resource or user machine address;
- incorrect access protocol settings;
- browser cache overflow;
- exposure to viruses and much more.
The above list contains only the obvious reasons for this phenomenon. In fact, there may be many more. But we will consider only these options, since troubleshooting such problems often allows you to get rid of some related problems that can not always be eliminated by conventional methods (even some preventive measures do not work).
Checking internet connection
So, some site is not opening. What to do? To get started, just reload the page. If the browser gives an error that the service is temporarily unavailable, you may need to pause for a while, and then repeattry. If the notification contains a link to nginx, this is a direct indication that your Windows-based browser is incompatible with a UNIX-based resource. In principle, this is not a problem. It is worth pausing and trying to access again. It is possible that the server was simply overloaded. Worse, when a DDoS attack was carried out with an exceeded number of requests, when the server simply does not have time to respond to them. Naturally, we will not consider these situations, but move on to more pressing problems.
On the other hand, you should check the connection itself, especially if the Internet is accessed wirelessly through a router. To begin with, if the sites do not open in Windows 10, for example, but the router signals that the connection is established, try to access the Internet from any other device, say, from a mobile phone. If there is access, the problem is in your computer, otherwise, in the network settings. But do not rush to change them. A fairly common problem associated with the fact that some site does not open in the browser is a malfunction of the router itself. To restore its normal operation, you must perform a hard reset with a reset. The Reset button, which is usually located on the rear panel, do not even try to use. Still, it will not give the expected effect. The most preferred way is to completely disconnect the router from the mains with a pause before turning it back on for about 10-15 seconds. Someexperts advise to withstand a longer period, but I think this is quite enough for home models of the TP-Link series.
After turning on the router, the sensor indicated by the Internet icon should blink. If it does not light up, it is most likely a problem with the ISP. Contact Support. If your router ping fails, it could very well be a hardware issue. If the provider detects your router, but the requested site does not open in the browser, it is quite possible that the problem lies either in the access settings on your part, or in restrictions that may relate directly to the requested resource.
So, for example, when trying to access US Internet radio stations from the territory of the former Soviet Union, a notification will be issued stating that access to the resource is prohibited from this region, and is intended only for those users who are geographically located in the United States. We will discuss how to get around such restrictions a little later. In the meantime, a few words about possible problems that may occur on user terminals or even mobile devices.
Setting the access protocol
Why aren't websites opening? Yes, only because incorrect network access parameters are set on the user's computer. You can check them by changing the properties of the adapter, where the Ipv4 protocol setting is selected. Immediately pay attention to the moment that when connecting wirelessly, all addresses should be obtained automatically. In thatcase we are talking about using dynamic IP.
If any site does not open, try to set a static address, which should differ in the last digit from the address of the router. For example, the router address is usually represented in combinations of 192.168.01 or 1.1. Set the address for your terminal to 192.168.0.6 or any other by the last digit, save the changes, reboot the system and check Internet access.
DNS addresses and proxy usage
Why websites don't open, we figured it out a bit. But the solution to the problem is still far from complete. In fact, even with automatic settings in Windows, communication may not work at all as it should.
Here it is worth considering that the use of a proxy is possible only if it is provided by the provider. Check the IPv4 protocol settings again, and in the additional options, uncheck the box for using a proxy for local addresses, if there is one.
On the other hand, these settings might be fine, but let's say HTTPS sites won't open. In fact, the addresses of such resources represent the availability only in the form of a secure connection, and the settings of the primary or alternate DNS server may not always translate domain names into such digital queries. In this case, we are talking about changing their addresses, despite the default automatic receipt. Here it is worth applying the mostcommon and popular combinations from Google, which are presented in the image above. Just write this data in the addresses, save the changes and check if access to the necessary resources has resumed.
Clear cache
But, let's say, after that some site doesn't open. This may even be due to the settings of the default browser, which has accumulated a huge amount of computer garbage in the form of a cache, temporary files, cookies, cached images, etc. Ordinary users do not think about cleaning browsers. But there are no automated tools for this in any well-known browser. And the clutter of the browser just leads to the fact that sites do not open in the same Opera.
There are two ways out in this situation: either manually clean up the history and delete everything that was mentioned above, or entrust this task to optimizer programs like Advanced SystemCare or CCleaner, which are considered leaders in the cleaning and acceleration software market operation of Windows systems.
If, even after optimization, the requested site does not open, you can do it in a completely drastic way by setting a complete reset of the browser settings to the factory settings. This feature is available in all browsers, regardless of the developer. By the way, this option sometimes helps when removing virus threats of an advertising nature.
Reset connection settings
Any user knows how to open a website on the Internet. To do this, just enter a regular address. But what if the address is correct, but the Internet connection is not working?
Here you have to use the cardinal tools that are available in any Windows operating system of the latest generations. To get started, call the command line with administrator rights through the "Run" console by entering the abbreviation cmd in the program field. If you won't run as administrator, you will have to find a similar EXE file in the System32 directory and run it as administrator through the RMB menu.
In the console that appears, enter the following:
- ipconfig /flushdns;
- ipconfig /registerdns;
- ipconfig /renew;
- ipconfig /release.
This will lead to a complete reset of the DNS settings, namely, most of the problems are associated with them, except for the DHCP server settings on the router. But in this case, it is assumed that everything is in order with the router parameters.
What to do if the site is blocked?
Finally, let's see why the Yandex website sometimes does not open. There are no prerequisites for problems. But! In Ukraine, almost all Russian-language news, search resources and popular social networks have recently been blocked. And if "Yandex" with its start page is still somehow loading, other sites like Mail. Ru or VK are not discussed at all. And even then, having sinfully loaded the Yandex homepage in half, it will be impossible to use any of the available services.
How to open a site that is blocked on a levelstates? Yes, elementary! No one has yet canceled the use of so-called VPN clients. In any browser, you can install the appropriate add-on/extension.
In Opera, everything is even simpler, because it is in this browser that this client is built into the shell itself. It is enough to activate it for the first time in the settings, after which the corresponding switch will appear to the left of the address bar. When the mode is activated, the server from which the user will connect is selected automatically. If you need to change the location, you can also do it manually by specifying the preferred country of location, in which the user's computer is supposedly currently located.
But one more completely non-trivial example can be given when the YouTube site does not open. Of course, no such problems were noticed in the post-Soviet space, but in China and North Korea, yes. Access is limited even to such popular social networks as Facebook and Twitter. The worst thing is that the governments of these countries have attracted such cool specialists who have created a firewall (blocking barrier) at such a state level that no VPN clients help, and the use of such applications is carefully monitored and, at the slightest suspicion, is punished, and quite severely..
Virus scan
But we digress a little. If a site does not open, this does not mean that the operating system, browser settings or incorrect actions are to blame for everything.user. By no means! Here we are faced with viruses, of which there are so many on the Internet now that it is impossible to imagine. Not to mention malicious codes that cause irreparable damage to the operating system itself, viruses related to the so-called browser hijackers (categories Hijackers and Adware) are the most widespread.
Such virus applets cannot even be called viruses, since most of them have full trust rights to be installed as partner software, and some of these applications also have supposedly official certificates of authenticity. At best, they are recognized as unwanted software to install. And it is for this reason that most antiviruses, when the installation starts in the background, which the user either does not know about or has agreed to when the installer of another program (most often a game in the form of a repack), is triggered, the installation of such applets is simply ignored, considering what is happening to be the installation of official software.
It is possible and necessary to fight this. To get started, you can use portable scanners like KVRT or Dr. Web CureIt. If it turns out that the virus is deeply embedded in the RAM, you will have to use programs like Kaspersky Rescue Disk. This is a disk utility that, when writing to removable media, if it is set first in the boot priority in the BIOS settings, it starts even before the operating system boots and detects such viruses that many will never evenwould think that such threats exist on the computer.
What is the result?
Actually, this is all that can be said briefly about the described problem. It is probably clear that there can be much more reasons for such a phenomenon than those that have been described. For example, it is quite obvious that problems associated with similar situations when connecting to local or virtual networks were not considered here, when the addresses of each device are assigned automatically or by the system administrator, but the server itself from which the request is made does not work. These are, so to speak, special cases, but in the general sense for each user, the solutions presented in most cases allow you to fix the problem when access to some resource is impossible or blocked. The most important conclusion that can be drawn from all of the above is to carefully check the settings and, if necessary, change them (at least using alternative DNS addresses will give its result). It goes without saying that if the reason for the denial of access is purely the technical side of the issue, you will have to contact the provider's support service directly. But it is worth considering the use of VPN clients, which themselves are capable of making a secure connection and fixing a huge number of problems that were observed with a regular connection (meaning geolocation).
In general, the presented solutions allow you to get rid of a lot of bugs, unless they are related to the provider or the functionality of the resource itself. Finally, payattention also at that moment that if your provider does not have a DHCPv6 server at its disposal, a similar version of the IP protocol should be disabled, otherwise conflicts with the fourth version may arise.
