Windows phones are the subject of much controversy among fans of all three operating systems. We are talking about operating systems such as iOS, Android and, of course, Windows Fawn. Moreover, the owners of the first two most often tend to unite together in order to put the creations of the Microsoft company in the place that they, in their opinion, should occupy. In this article, we will talk about the disadvantages of devices running the Windows Fawn operating system, as well as give examples of smartphones with the corresponding characteristics.
“Nokia Lumia 535”
Phones on Windows come out supporting both one SIM card and two. In our case, this is the last option. Dual, as it is already commonly called, the device operates in the GSM bands and supports third-generation cellular networks. Its overall dimensions in three-dimensional space: 1402 by 72.4 by 8.8 millimeters. In this case, the weight of the device is 146 grams. Phones on Windows are often equipped with not the most capacious batteries, and we can immediately see an example of this: the 535th model has a factory battery rated for 1905milliamp per hour. The phone was released in 2015. The standby time for this capacity is 336 hours. The screen is equipped with an IPS technology matrix, the color reproduction of which is equal to 16 million shades. The screen resolution is 540 by 960 pixels. There is only a proximity sensor in the set of sensors, there is no automatic backlight adjustment. The camera has a resolution of five megapixels. The processor operates at a frequency of 1200 megahertz. It consists of four cores. The amount of RAM is one gigabyte, and flash memory is eight at once.
“Nokia Lumiya 730”
Phones on “Windows 8.1” make up a fairly impressive list, and this is another dual modification, this time of the 730 model. It was developed and released a year earlier than the previous subject of the review. If we talk about dimensions, then it is 134.7 mm long, 68.5 mm wide, and 8.9 mm thick. By the way, the smartphone is equipped with an LTE module for fourth-generation cellular networks. A fairly valuable component that automatically makes the device the subject of a potential comparison. With a mass of 134 grams, the smartphone looks good and fits comfortably in the hand. The battery of the device is designed for 2200 milliamps per hour, which, however, is also far from bad, although more could be done. In continuous talk mode, the device can last up to 22 hours, in standby mode - six hundred. In this case, we have AMOLED as a matrix. Color reproduction at the same level - sixteen million shades. The screen resolution is 720 by 1280 pixels. The operating system installed on board the device is Windows Fawn version 8.1.
Which phones on Windows can I buy? Is it worth it?
Today, in fact, the only manufacturer of the Windows Fawn operating system and immediately the products that use it is Microsoft, which successfully “absorbed” the Finnish manufacturer, namely Nokia. But you can immediately identify one problem with these devices, which is found everywhere. This is a discrepancy between the products of the declared value, since there is always an opportunity for less money to buy an alternative smartphone with almost identical technical characteristics, which is simply based on a different operating system.
Creating decoys and assigning flagship status to them
Microsoft has a policy that is not very clear. Every few months, a new device is released, which managers are trying to promote as “the flagship that eclipsed all other models.” It is not very clear how in a relatively short period of time (3-4 months) the “flagship” can lose its qualities. Has humanity reached that level of development when it has the ability to so rapidly raise the bar of the possible every time? This is all sarcasm, of course. But the release of numerous so-called "flagships" by Microsoft can only be seen as an attempt to sell the maximum number of devices, justifying them inin the eyes of the buyers themselves.
Software issues
In this area, the undoubted leader is the American company "Apple". Even fairly old devices continue to be relevant for some period of operation, and more specifically, while these smartphones receive software updates. What is the task? Let the user enjoy the old hardware while using new features that open up as the operating system improves and updates are released. For three years, Apple has been polishing the OS by delivering updates to customers' devices.
"Android" manufacturers have been doing this for a year and a half, although they are working in this direction, trying to expand the deadlines. But Microsoft is hammering a stake into the ground, leaving its users with practically nothing. So it remains to answer the question about how to install "Windows" on the phone, that the only way is to wait for the center to provide us with an update package for the operating system.
