Great interest among fans of mobile devices caused a phone from the well-known Finnish company "Nokia X3". Its main feature is that it is the only non-smartphone gadget that has a touch screen.
Appearance
To begin with, we will provide a list of equipment for the Nokia X3: instructions, branded charger and earphones - "tablets". The set, frankly, turned out to be rather poor.
Although the X3 has a touch screen, we can see that the mechanical keyboard hasn't gone anywhere: the numbers and hot keys are heaped under the display. Of the functional ones, in addition to "forward" and "back", there are buttons for quickly activating the music player and instantly switching to SMS messages. Note that they cannot be reassigned. Another innovation of the developers is the location of the "0", "hash" and "asterisk" keys: now this trio is not located at the bottom of the keyboard, as everyone is used to seeing, but on the right edge. This will take some getting used to.
Designer omission is the protective glass of the screen, which protrudes somewhat in the areaconversational dynamics. During a conversation, the edge of the protection rubs unpleasantly against the skin, causing discomfort.
There is a proximity sensor in the upper right corner of the front panel. On the right side there is a volume rocker, as well as a device activation key. At the top are a micro-USB slot, a 3.5mm headset jack, and a Nokia-branded charging hole. There is a speaker on the bottom of the phone.
The back cover of the Nokia X3 is the only part of the phone made of metal. Under it are slots for a memory card and a SIM card. There is also a camera eye on the back side.
In general, the Nokia X3 assembly, the photo of which can be seen below, turned out to be of average quality: there is some backlash on the back of the device and there are large gaps.
Total dimensions of the device - 48.4 x 106.2 x 9.6 mm, weight - 78 g.
"Nokia X3 02": touch display characteristics
It should be noted right away that the screen here is resistant, that is, it can be controlled both with a finger and with a stylus, which, however, is not provided with the device. The screen size is 2.4 inches - not a very convenient diagonal for using the sensor. The number of pixels is 167 PPI per inch. The display shows 262,000 colors.
The resolution of 240x320 is quite suitable for the size of the display, but this is perhaps the only plus. The picture quality is average, the viewing angles are small, and the image fades in the sun. Navigating through the menu is not very convenient; there are also some shortcomings. For example, ifthere are only two menu items on the displayed screen, and we use a swipe down or up, gray stripes of the flipping effect will appear on the display, although there is nothing to scroll through. It doesn't look very aesthetically pleasing. Menu navigation is not too fast, which is also depressing. It seems that the sensor is a completely unnecessary feature here, and a standard joystick would be a much better solution.
Camera
When buying Nokia X3, users get very meager and low-quality optics. Despite the fact that in this price segment the figure of 5 megapixels looks quite impressive, it will not be possible to achieve even average image quality due to the lack of autofocus. Photos are blurry and fuzzy, especially noticeable when shooting near objects and text documents. Only background images, for example, landscapes, come out tolerably well. You will have to forget about night shooting at all, since the flash is not provided here. There is not much to say about the functionality of the camera, since there are no interesting solutions here.
The camcorder can shoot videos with a resolution of 640x420 at 15 frames per second.
Sound
The next part of the Nokia X3 review is next - the characteristics of the audio player and sound. The hot key for activating the player clearly hints that the phone is tuned to music. It should be noted that with this button it will only be possible to activate the player, it will have to be controlled exclusively through the touch screen.
The speaker here really came out quite loud, but its quality remainsaverage. Music plays well in headphones, but you should not expect something supernatural. The supplied headset is frankly weak, and it will have to be immediately replaced with a new one if we want to use the phone as an FM-receiver or an mp3-player. It is rather strange that the developers did not provide at least average vacuum headphones, which simply must be supplied with musical gadgets.
Video
On such a small screen and with such poor resolution, watching movies on your phone is not at all interesting. It is suitable only for watching small videos. However, the creators have endowed the video player with many different codecs, allowing you to play popular formats such as 3GP, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4, WMV.
Memory and communications
By default, only 50 MB of internal memory is available to phone owners. It can be expanded using a microSD memory card; the device supports flash drives up to 16 GB.
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 and USB are available from the interfaces.
Battery
The model is equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 860 mAh. Claimed battery life is as follows: talk time - 5.3 hours, standby - 432 hours, music listening - 28 hours, video playback - 6 hours. With moderate use, the device is quite capable of "living" without recharging for several days.
Conclusion
Frankly speaking, Nokia X3 is not the best decision of the Finnish company. Sensorythe screen is not implemented in the best way: it is inconvenient to manage it. There are some design flaws such as a convex protective glass and a non-standard arrangement of the "0", "hash" and "asterisk" keys.
Of the pluses, we highlight a loud speaker, a good set of audio and video codecs, a nice design, a battery, and, perhaps, that's all. There are much more cons: a weak screen, a bad sensor, a useless camera, poor equipment, a small amount of internal memory, etc. Whether this controversial device is worth its 5,500 rubles or not, it's up to users to decide.
"Nokia X3": user reviews
Outwardly, the phone looks objectively quite nice, but still, many owners found it not very convenient. The convex edges of the protective screen and the inconvenient arrangement of the classic keys are noted. The keyboard also leaves much to be desired.
The touch screen received mixed reviews: some liked this feature, others were dissatisfied with the decision of the creators. Not the most correct operation of the sensor is noted. The owners believe that the Internet would be much more convenient to control with an ordinary joystick.
As for the color reproduction of the image, it points to such shortcomings as glare in the sun, very small viewing angles and not the brightest color gamut. Recall that the display produces only 262,000 colors, so it is clearly not necessary to wait for a too saturated palette.
Oddly enough, the camera received quite positive reviews, but everyone complains about the lack of autofocus and flash.
Musical componentthe phone is mostly praised, citing a loud speaker and fairly decent sound quality.
Users claim that the battery lasts long enough even with heavy usage.
Some buyers are completely satisfied with absolutely everything. They think that the phone is excellent for such a price, they note such advantages as Internet access, a good battery, a bright and practical design, the necessary functionality, light weight and a loud speaker.
